Antalya, Turkey – April 11, 2025: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Antalya to attend the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where global leaders gathered to discuss solutions to international crises under the theme “Elevating Diplomacy Amidst Crises.”
President Mohamud delivered a strong message reaffirming Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and commitment to regional peace. “Somalia stands ready to work with its neighbors, allies, and international partners to ensure stability in the Horn of Africa and beyond,” he stated.
In his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of maritime security in the Red Sea, and called for mutual respect among neighboring nations. Without directly naming Ethiopia, his comments came amidst ongoing diplomatic tensions in the region. He also highlighted Somalia’s post-conflict recovery efforts and called for increased investment and international support.
On the sidelines of the forum, President Mohamud held high-level meetings with key leaders. The discussions focused on deepening bilateral ties, security cooperation, and economic development opportunities.
Somalia’s active participation at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum reflects the Federal Government’s growing role on the international stage. The forum provided a platform for Somalia to assert its diplomatic priorities and strengthen its relationships with influential nations in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
This engagement aligns with Somalia’s broader foreign policy strategy — one grounded in peace, democracy, and mutual respect — and reaffirms its place among nations striving for regional stability and global cooperation.
